Morris and Donna Southard were happily married with two grown-up boys, when in 2006 Donna began having health problems. They were unable to figure out what was wrong, but for the next three years Donna’s health continued to decline. Morris finally came to terms with the fact that his wife’s condition would not improve. Confronted with the need to place Donna in a nursing home, Morris became incredibly frightened. He recalled,
I was in an area I knew nothing about. Just as daunting, he needed to figure out how to pay for her care.
Morris began doing research to determine the best course of action for his family. During this process he discovered Barron Ross and reached out for help. Barron Ross educated Morris on how Long-Term Care Entitlement Benefits could be accessed to help pay for Donna’s care. Morris also learned how Entitlement Planning would protect his family’s assets and ensure that Donna received the care she needed.
Because Donna’s health problems required immediate care, Barron Ross quickly implemented a plan that was customized for the family’s needs. Barron Ross handled all the planning, paperwork, and logistics. Donna was admitted into a nursing home and was able to qualify for Entitlement Benefits to help pay for her care. As a result, the family home was protected from the cost of care and Donna was even able to keep some of her retirement income.
When asked why he decided to go with Barron Ross, Morris explained,
I felt very comfortable. I felt like going with Barron Ross was the way to go. Morris was even able to use his experience with Barron Ross to educate a few friends who also had loved ones dealing with serious health problems.
Sadly, Donna Southard passed away in 2012. But according to Morris she passed away with peace of mind, with her affairs in order and knowing that her two sons will keep the family legacy. Morris and Donna were married for 39 years.
